The Fumed & Colored Glass Hammer Bubbler is made by Mountain Jam Glass Company located in Oregon, USA. Each hammer bubbler is made to order, which means no two are alike, resulting in a beautiful piece of functional art.
This hammer bubbler is handmade from borosilicate glass. Borosilicate glass is standard glass that has had boron oxide added to the glassmaker’s frit as part of the glass making process. The result is a much harder, more durable glass that has very low coefficients for thermal expansion, which means it’s table to tolerate very high levels of heat. This makes borosilicate the perfect glass for high-quality pipe design.
Fumed glass is class that has been exposed to the fumes of heated gold and/or silver. Gold produces oranges, pinks and greens while silver is more about the purple and blue tones. Because of this unique process, the range of colors may be somewhat predictable, but how many and what pattern they form is a very individualistic thing and can’t be predicted, which means each of these pipes is a special snowflake in the world of hammer bubblers. Additionally, fumed glass is known to sort of “age” as you smoke and resin builds up, but this can be cleaned off. This aged buildup is a unique quality that’s visually desirable and interesting, though not necessary for the product to function. It’s just a cool quirk.
The carb is green to match the marble grips on the bowl, completing this compact hammer bubbler’s funky, freewheeling appeal.
